Fullerton lone SoCal rep in Div I NCAAs

Cal State Fullerton is the lone Division I school from Southern California to get a bid to the NCAA Division I baseball regionals, the lead-up to the annual College World Series.

Fullerton received the Big West’s automatic bid after it finished in 2nd place behind U.C. San Diego – which is in year 3 of its blackout period after jumping from Division II. The Big West is the last Division I conference that does not have a postseason tournament to determine its automatic NCAA qualifier.

San José State University won the Mountain West Conference tournament, and is the sole representative from that conference. And Santa Clara got the lone bid from the West Coast Conference.

In the Pac-12, there were five bids, but neither UCLA nor USC received one, leaving, as mentioned, Fullerton as the sole Southern California team with a chance at the College World Series.

We’ll follow the regionals here as long as Fullerton is alive.
