In 1993, the The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod decided to reorganize all of its colleges and universities into a new Concordia University System, and Christ College Irvine was renamed Concordia University Irvine.

The Concordia Eagles (the name was changed to Golden Eagles in 2022) began fielding a baseball team in 1984, competing in the NAIA. They joined the Golden State Athletic Conference in 1988 after playing as an independent, and moved up to the NCAA Div. II in 2016 – joining the Pacific West Conference.

CUI won the 2011 NAIA College World Series.

Baseball Reference lists Dan Robertson as the only former Eagle to make it to the Major Leagues to this point.

The Golden Eagles play their home games on campus at Golden Eagles Field. Built in 1991, the stands can seat 600.
