
The California Collegiate Athletic Association was founded in 1938 when four public universities decided to organize a sports league for the 1939-1940 season. Sonoma State ceased all intercollegiate athletics following the 2025 baseball season, while U.C. Merced joined for the 2025-26 academic year. Fresno Pacific will join for the 2026-2027 academic year.
There are currently 12 schools in the conference, and all but U.C. Merced offer baseball. Five of the schools are in Southern California, and are highlighted in boldface:
