The California Pacific Conference was formed in 1996 under the auspices of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Park University Gilbert and Westcliff joined in 2020, the last two schools to join. Sierra Nevada left the next year, and Marymount California folded the year after that, giving the conference its current roster of 13.
During the 2024 baseball season, both Antelope Valley and St. Katherine’s suddenly ceased operations, including their athletics programs. At the end of the 2024 baseball season, Benedictine Mesa, Embry Riddle and Park-Gilbert all left for the Golden STate Athletic Conference. Following the 2025 season, Providence Christian ended it’s intercollegiate athletics programs, while La Sierra left to join the GSAC.
Of the 13 current members, nine field a baseball team. Of those, five are in Southern California (highlighted in bold):
- Northern New Mexico
- Simpson
- Stanton
- Westcliff
